The story follows 24-year-old Saeris Fane, a thief with hidden alchemical powers living in a desert world, whose life changes when she is caught stealing and inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms. She is transported to Yvelia, a land of ice and snow, home to the Fae, and mistakenly binds herself to a handsome but prickly Fae warrior named Kingfisher. She must navigate a centuries-long conflict, a “grumpy/sunshine” enemies-to-lovers dynamic, and her new bond with Kingfisher, who intends to use her magic to protect his people.
