The workshop begins with a discussion introducing the art of storytelling, embracing the tales of our grandparents, bedtime stories, and the narratives that are woven together to reflect human history across different cultures and eras. The workshop then explores the different realms of storytelling and its evolution throughout time, tracing its roots back to oral traditions passed down through generations, to being expressed through drawing and writing, and later evolving into animated stories.

Instructor: Marwa Abdel Moneim is a visual artist, animation educator, and cultural practitioner based in Cairo. She is the founder of Hessa Rasm, an initiative that introduces children to visual arts, and a co-founder of Ezhar w Ban, which promotes Egypt’s architectural heritage. From 2016 to 2020, she directed the Jesuit Cairo Animation School for children and teens and has led workshops across Egypt and internationally, focusing on creative education and animation.

Marwa holds a degree in Art Education from Helwan University and diplomas in visual arts and cultural development. Her independent animated films have been screened at numerous international festivals, earning her several awards and grants, including support from the Ministry of Culture and AFAC. Her artistic and educational work centers on accessibility, storytelling, and social engagement through the arts.
